Architecture fascinates me because it’s a wonderful mix of numerous subjects: art and physics, psychology and history, concrete, light or very serious technical drawings. It’s a discipline where you can talk about philosophy in the morning and reason about door handles in the afternoon. For me, architecture isn’t only about buildings. It’s even more about the experiences they enable and foster. With a wall here, an opening there, a bit of light slipping through at the right moment, we can make people feel calm, curious, welcome. We can gently encourage them to meet, to pause, to look at each other a little longer. I believe we truly discover ourselves through others, and am convinced that architecture, in its own quiet way, can support that. In that sense, I am particulary interested in reuse and rehabilitation projects, as I think that they can help us at the same time to get to know more about ourselves, and help us to develop a responsible approach.
